In holiday times (and without using the virtual queue), the only way to get on rides in a timely manner without queueing in the heat for 2 hours for every ride is to buy a fast pass - $150 on top of the $100 to get in! Then you can guarantee that at least one rollercoaster will be out of action, so you pay heaps of money for two, or maybe three rollercoasters (if you count Scooby Doo as a worthwhile ride). We have been a number of times as we love the big rollercoasters, but the cost is getting beyond a joke for what they offer. Without finding that feature though I would have been thoroughly unimpressed with Movieworld. This is free (at the moment) and meant we could do a lot more rides, as we were able to have lunch, watch the parade etc while still queuing virtually! One of the staff members said this was a new feature, so I’m sure it won’t be free for long as I noticed Dreamworld have a version of this now too and are charging people for it.so get on it while you can! At that time (anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hr) you could show up to the ride and get straight on. Having two trains running on the longer rides is also normal overseas but not here.however training in efficient loading would be needed first!! The only thing that made our visit manageable was that I noticed a ‘virtual queue’ feature through the app that meant you could select a ride to go on and get allocated a time. They do this much better at other theme parks, and maybe better training would help to cut down wait times. Having been to a number of theme parks around the world, including Disneyworld and Universal Studios, one of the main reasons I could see for the queues was the length of time it took the ride operators to unload and load each ride! On one occasion it took them almost ten minutes to reload the Superman escape, which was unbelievable. After that though, all the queues for everything except the Hammer ride (basically a big swing that swings you upside down in a circle) were over 1 hr long. We got there before the rides started, and were able to get on the superman escape and Wild West flume ride really quickly. We visited Movie World on a Tuesday and expected it to be busy because of school holidays.
